Course Outline

A comprehensive introduction to chartwork navigation meteorology and the basics of seamanship. Invaluable for learning how to start making decisions on board and if you are considering taking the Day Skipper practical course.    

Content & Objectives

This course will include

- seamanship

- coastal navigation and pilotage

- chartwork

- electronic charts

- position fixing

- plotting a course to steer

- weather forecasting and meteorology

- tides

- collision regulations


Entry Requirements

- you must be at least 18 to attend this course

- you must bring an official form of identification, such as your Passport, Discharge Book, Driving Licence or National ID.

Accommodation is provided onboard the M/V Sea Trident, moored alongside Red Ensign Training in West Cowes.
